First and foremost, we want to make sure the address is serviceable.
In Powercode, create a new lead and make sure you have their name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and if applicable, the name of the customer who referred them. Take extra care to verify the correct email address, as this is where statements and fiber contracts will be sent.
If after adding the customer information the system can't find the geocoordinates use this link to look it up. http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocode
Use this Google Maps to get a rough idea of coverage - this is for Wireless only. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?hl=en&mid=1bb3JYTJdamOzvFGtN39QvD3-QMM&ll=39.93852118600927%2C-111.80233009044053&z=15
Please check the Utopia Sales page for coverage details on Fiber service.
PRO TIP You can also use Google Maps to geolocate a location. The URL will contain the coordinates if Google is able to find the address
Deselect automatically geocode, and it will bring up the fields for them to be entered in manually.
For customers in Payson be sure to also check availability for Fiber.
After the customer has been added you can check to see where they are located, and use the elevation profile to get a good idea if the residence is serviceable. You want less than a 4 miles distance, with a clear elevation line.
You can also check on the map portion and select customers to see how many customers are in the surrounding area. If there are a bunch of surrounding customers, it is probably good to go. If there are only a few, a site survey is best. If there aren't any other customers nearby, it is unlikely we can service the address.
When in doubt check with the field manager. If you don't get an immediate response, schedule a site survey.
Be sure to go over Packages by Service as well as router information with the customer.
Routers
The only equipment that does not come with our standard monthly package pricing is a wireless router. If the customer already has one, as long as they are happy with their router, we are happy. The technician will help them set it up if they have it on hand at the time of installation. If they do not have a router we are happy to either provide them one, or point them in the direction of a reliable product.
Our Routers
Routers are not included. Intellipop offers a managed WiFi Service. Router Leases (managed WiFi Service) are $12.95/mo. We do not offer a direct purchase as they are licensed. Customers are welcome to purchase a router on their own as well. We recommend the Asus AC-1750 series and above.
Recommendations
We recommend the ASUS AC-1750 or higher. The AC-1750 runs about $90-110 on any given day on Amazon and can also be found at Best Buy. If the customer calls in asking about other models use your best judgment on known brands. We advise against Linksys and Belkin. Netgear is a solid brand, but we caution against the Nighthawk series due to its consistent lack of user friendliness. The Nighthawk series provides a great product, but is not intuitive and difficult to set up for the everyday user. Once they are set up however, we rarely do see any issues.
Referrals
We have an ongoing referral program for our customers. Customers who refer new customers to our business can receive up to half off on their next bill cycle. The name of who is referring the new customer must be given before the installation is completed in order to receive a credit. When signing up new customers, if the mention they were referred by someone, be sure to get a name for the referral and add them to the “Notes” section of the account, as well as the job notes for the installation.
